Composting with the Worm Factory 360 uses worms to break down waste and is more efficient than a traditional backyard compost pile. Worm compost has been proven to have ten times the nutrients of traditional backyard compost. In addition, its compact design makes it perfect for use in any household.

Worm composting makes it easy to recycle kitchen scraps, paper waste and cardboard into nutrient- rich fertilizer for your plants. The worms work 24/7 to efficiently produce rich compost packed with microbes and water soluble plant nutrients.

The Worm Factory 360 is simple to set up and operate. Managing your Worm Factory 360 takes less than 15 minutes a week. Simply add a handful of worms and your organic waste to the bottom tray of the Worm Factory 360. The worms will start processing the food. Once the bottom tray is filled add another tray. The worms migrate upward to the newest food source leaving the bottom tray full of nutrient-rich compost. You can do this year-round inside or outside, and harvest compost up to once a month!

Your first tray will take about three months to become fully composted by the worms. After the first tray is composted the other trays can take as little as a month depending on the waste added. Once you harvest your finished compost from the bottom tray, you will have an empty tray to stack on top again. The nutrient-rich finished compost can be used in your garden, your raised beds, or on houseplants.

This kit comes bundled with one Worm Farming Moisture Meter and one Worm Farming pH Meter to help you keep your worms out of danger. Nothing can put your worms at more risk than extreme bin conditions! Our meters each have a 9″ probe that you stick into your worm bin to measure the bin’s moisture/pH content. You will be one step closer to becoming a worm composting master when you no longer have to rely on guesswork while maintaining your worm bin!

Worm Factory Refill Kit

  • 32 ounce of Nature’s Footprint Glacial Rock Dust
  • 8 cups of Nature’s Footprint Pumice
  • 2 Nature’s Footprint 650g Coconut Coir

Each of the bedding materials that come in the Worm Factory Refill Kit are in the same convenient size packages that originally came with the Worm Factory 360 composter. They can also be used with the Worm Factory Standard composter. When used as instructed this kit contains enough materials for at least 8 composting trays. Bedding materials play an important role in reproduction rates and impact the manageability of the Worm Factory. They are essential for air space and moisture control. Bedding materials should compose at least 50% of the material you add to the feeding trays.

The pumice and coconut coir prevent odors from forming in the Worm Factory360 and the Worm Factory Standard by providing carbon, without which the system would sour. They also keep the materials in the tray from packing tightly. This promotes increased air flow and free movement of the worms. Minerals provide grit for the worms and food for the microbes that are working sight unseen in the Worm Factory, helping to breakdown the food for the worms and ultimately providing nutrient rich vermicompost for optimal plant growth.

Worm Factory COIR250G10 Coconut Coir Growing Medium 250g – 10 pack

Coconut Coir is a 100-percent natural by-product of harvesting coconut. Coir consists of the coarse fibers extracted from the husk on the outer shell of a coconut. Because of its superior water holding capacity, excellent air space and drainage, coir is a useful soil amendment for potted plants, containers and gardens. Coir is a sustainable alternative to peat moss – it does not produce the same environmental damage caused by peat mining and grows quickly for harvest. In addition, coir is easier to hydrate and lasts longer in soil than peat moss. Coir’s neutral pH of 5.8–6.8 allows it to efficiently release nutrients to plant roots and reduces the need to use dolomite lime in the garden. How to use Coir ? When used in sandy soils, coir helps to keep nutrients and moisture close to plant roots instead of washing away.

When used in clay soils, coir helps to break up hard-packed earth and move nutrients and moisture through the soil. By adding one part coir to two parts soil or potting mix containing compost, you can make a perfect growing medium for potted plants or an outdoor garden or raised bed. Coir comes compressed into bricks, which makes for easy, convenient storage. Add water and soak your brick for at least 1 hour before using it. A fully-hydrated brick can hold eight to ten times its volume in water.

The final volume of the expanded coir depends on the amount of water used to constitute it. By maintaining a consistent level of moisture and air and by being naturally disease and weed free, coir creates a perfect environment for starting seeds and cuttings and can be used as a seed-starting medium. Improve your soil structure and water-holding capacity with 100-percent natural Coconut Coir today.
